Butterflies

During Black History Month Butterflies looked at the inspirational and brave, Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks is best know for refusing to give up her seat to a white person in1955. Due to this refusal, Rosa was then arrested and charged with breaking the rules and causing trouble. She was found guilty and fined. This punishment caused outcry and led to a bus boycott that lasted 381 days. This became known as the Montontgomery movement. Following this segregation on buses ceased.

In class we discussed Rosa and looked at some of the vocabulary that the children may not have been familiar with including raciam and segregation.

We created a time line of Rosa's life and then wrote a factfile about her.

We hope you enjoy watching our short video.
