Teacher - Mrs Gant

Teaching Assistant - Mrs Evason

Welcome to Grasshoppers! We are so excited to begin our learning journey together in Year 5. This year will be filled with curiosity, discovery, and new challenges that will help you grow not just as learners, but as kind and confident individuals too. Together, we’ll explore exciting topics, develop skills, and celebrate achievements every step of the way. Myself and Mrs Evason can’t wait to see the amazing things you will accomplish.

Let’s make this a fantastic year in Grasshoppers!

                                                                                     Live, Laugh, Love, Learn!

PE

PE will be on a Thursday and Friday during Autumn. Children will change on the day so PE kit (coloured T-shirt, black shorts, black pumps) should be in school. No jewellery is to be worn, earrings to be removed, or taped (child’s own tape) if they can’t be removed.  Girls – no tights and hair tied back.

If your child has asthma please ensure they have an inhaler in school and let me know.

If your child needs to miss a PE session for any reason (injury or sickness) please send a letter in with them or email me directly.  Without a letter the children will need to take part in every PE lesson.

Weekly homework

Your child will need to complete TTRS, spellings and reading each week. Homework will be set on a Monday and will need to be completed by the following Monday.

TTRS log in details are in the front of homework books. Your child will need to complete 3 x 20 minutes each week. This will be checked on Monday morning.

Spellings will be put in the front of homework books at the beginning of each half term. These will need practising 5 times per week

Please listen your child to read at least 3 times a week. Bonus squares will be given for any extra reading. Their reading record needs to be signed by an adult and the page they are up to written in on the day they read. Books will be checked daily.

The following snacks are available;

Daily – toast available 20p per slice (payable on a Monday for the week)
