Oh my goodness, after watching the Prime Minister's speech last night to say my head is spinning would be an understatement. We've all just been told about the possibilty of YR, Y1 and Y6 returning to school on June 1st if we can meet the governments 5 criteria.  These are the only details that we have so far and they raise many questions and concerns around social distancing, the logistics of where children can be taught safely (adhering to the 2m rule), how and where playtimes and dinner times will run and indeed if we will have enough staff available to teach 3 year groups.  At this time I ask you to rest assured that we remain committed to looking after the safety of our children, staff and families.  We need the children, and indeed yourselves, to feel safe and secure as we move forward towards ending lockdown.  I am sure that, like us, you are struggling to understand how a safe return to school can be facilitated.  We know this is an extremely worrying time and I aim to keep you as informed as possible about school reopening.

As we enter the 8th week of lockdown it's hard to think about how much time we've missed being together as a school family.  Seeing your pictures on the facebook page really has brightened my days.  It's lovely to see so many of you still engaging in learning and keeping up with your reading, writing, phonics and topic work.  Your teacher's are putting some wonderful activities on their blogs for you be getting on with.  Don't worry if you are not able to print out any of the sheets - the children could just copy them down or simply write the answers in their yellow books.

This week I have been part of a foodbank collection for Red Rose Road Runners and it has really made me realise how much I am missing my family and friends during lockdown.  It is so important to follow government guidelines and stay at home and social distance as much as possible yet it's so hard not seeing those you are close to.  This got me thinking about my challenge for this week.  I'd like everyone to make a card, write a letter or draw a picture for one of their friends in school.  Post it on the facebook page and we will tag the person that you have made it for.  Alternatively you could post it to them if you know their address.  My two have loved receiving letters in the post and have equally enjoyed posting letters to our family and friends.  Who'd have thought it would take a pandemic to appreciate the simple things in life!

Take care and stay safe
