Forest School

At St. Aidan's we are developing our Forest School approach and provision. All children have the opportunity to experience and embrace the Forest School approach.

Forest School is a child-centred learning process, that offers our children opportunities for holistic and personal growth. At St. Aidan's children will experience regular sessions with teachers that are forest school leaders. Forest School supports play, exploration, risk taking, decision making, problem solving, communication and co-operation whilst developing confidence, self-esteem and resilience through child led and centred hands-on experiences in a natural outdoor setting. Forest School not only facilitates the devleopment of knowledge and skills but also helps our children to develop socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically and intellectually. In a safe and supported environment our children will be encouraged to challenge themselves and take risks, understanding how to judge and manage risk within the forest school environment.

Our children will be encouraged to follow their own interests helping them to become creative and independent learners and thinkers. Leaders will facilitate childrens developing curiosity and interests in the natural environment.

At St. Aidan's we aim for our Forest School to develop every child's love and respect for the outdoors as well as become confident responsible individuals.
