Mrs Finch's Blog 8/6/20

Hey everyone! I hope that you are all well and keeping safe.  As the restrictions are starting to be lifted I can't help but worry what's going to happen next.  Each week we are receiving updates from LCC around the safety of opening up school to other year groups - at the minute we are still being told to wait.  With no definite date for opening I can only encourage everyone to keep an eye out for updates on our facebook page and via email.  As always I will support all families' decisions for when you want your children to return to school and I will be sending another questionnaire out to find out your plans in due time, however in my heart of hearts I really do think September is the safest option.

All the teachers are busy getting ready for September and I'll be emailing out the class structures for next academic year in the next week or so.  We are all planning to do lots of social and emotional work with the children to make sure that they are confident and comfortable returning to school.

The class blogs are providing some wonderful activities for you to do with your children - some of them I know can also be done independently and I look forward to seeing your facebook posts each week.  For those of you who are struggling to motivate the children to do any work, we really do understand.  Try to approach it differently, make it in to a game, do it in short bursts of 5 or 10 minutes, most importantly don't let it cause you stress as it will just make the children resist even more.  Believe me, I've had my fair share of arguments with my two over not doing work - I've found bribery works wonders!

My task this week is to tell me what you've been doing during lockdown - you could do this in a variety of ways.  Either send it to me in an email, record a short video, draw a picture, use pic collage to show lots of pictures together or write about it and take a photo of your writing.  I can't wait to see what you've all been doing.

It's still strange not seeing you all each morning when I'm standing on the gate.  Please remember that we are all still here for you.  Send us a message if you're worried about something, let us know if you're struggling, please keep in touch.  I often wonder just what affect Covid19 is having on our school family.  Has anyone been directly affected by Covid? How has everyone been coping not seeing family and friends?  I know I've struggled at times and it is so important to talk about it, I have a wonderful family and an amazing team around me who have helped me immensely.  If anyone needs advice, help or even just a chat please get in touch.

Take care and keep safe
