Summer term extra curriculuar activiites

Monday - KS1

Thursday - KS2 Girls Football. We are really promoting girls sport this half term and a few had expressed interest in football. We are hoping to develop their self confidence and self belief character values as part of this club.

In Spring half term we had the Dodgeball club for KS1 and KS2 as well as a KS1 Football club. The children were enjoying Dodgeball in their PE lessons so much that they wanted to do is after school as well! The children in KS1 took part in Football club as we wanted to focus on developing their communication and team work skills. We want to offer a range of experiences for our children at St Aidan's and so we had a Fencing club open to Years 5 and 6 in Spring 1. The children really enjoyed taking part in something completely different and learning a new skill!

Inter - school sporting events

On Tuesday 3rd May some of our year 5 and 6 children children took part in a football tournamtnet with local schools. They did a fabulous job and showed a lot of team work and resilience.

This year we have also attended a Dodgeball tournament and a Yag Rugby Tournament held by our School Game Organisers.

Intra - School Sporting events

During the Autumn and Spring term we have held football matches between the houses for our KS2 children. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in these matches and showed a real competitive spirit.

Physical Activity

It is vitally important that at St Aidan's that we offer all children access to 60 minutes of physical activity a day. All children have a 15 minute playtime in the morning and afternoon. Children also have an hour at lunchtime. During this time, a wide variety of play equipment is put out for ALL children to use, such as skipping ropes, balance boards, buckets stilts, catch a cups, a variety of balls and rackets.

Our Key Stage 2 Playground Leaders take it in turns to come on to the Key Stage 1 yard and play a variety games with them.

We also have our new Forest School area which children have timetabled access to throughout the week for them to play and explore.
